Thankful

This is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. We like to do things a bit earlier than our neighbours to the south.

Today is also my son's second birthday. Two years ago today, I got a call from my wife who was out shopping for hats for my two girls and she said "I think my water just broke, do you think we should go to the hospital?" I said "Are you crazy? Of COURSE we should go the hospital!"

She replied, "OK, I just have to go to one more store."

Of course, I'm laughing about this now, but at the time, we were headed for a month of crazy, emotional times. You see, Kiernan was arriving a week earlier than his scheduled C-Section, which meant that our months of planning to be ready were going to be pretty much thrown out the window. To top that off, he inhaled a whole bunch of amniotic fluid on the way out, got pneumonia and ended up in the NICU for 8 days.

What ensued was over a week of long days and nights, uncertainty, tears and insomnia. When he was finally better enough to come home with us, we were only home for a week. He promptly caught something else, ended back in the IWK for a spinal tap (ever seen something like this performed on your two week old child? Not fun) and eight more days of exhaustion.

Thankfully, Kier's been healthy ever since and is now a pretty funny fixture in our house. He's seriously the most hilarious little boy I've ever met.

Kids have a funny way of taking over your life. As a small business owner, I find it hard to balance the running of my business with spending time with my family. I'm particularly thankful for my wonderful wife who is the most supportive woman I could ask for. She understands the importance of my business to me and to our family.

I'm also extremely thankful for my wonderful staff, Paul and Matt. My partners and strategic alliances. You know who you are. There's no way I could have known how this business would take off almost six years ago. I'm thankful for all of it.

What are you thankful for?

Thankful

Sometimes it is nice to be reminded how lucky we are so I would say I am thankful for today's reminder above. Thanks or taking the time to share this with us

I too am thankful for many things mostly having 2/3rds of my family home for the weekend and everyone is happy and healthy.

Cheers
